I firmly believe in the importance of three-way communication between teacher, parents, and students.  If we all work as a team, we accomplish much greater things!  In order to facilitate that relationship, I use a variety of communication methods. Here are some of our tools:

Canvas is a revolutionary new course management and social network system. Students will have access to course calendars, study guides, quizzes, blogs, and assignments.  The system is a closed system. This means that only students and families in my class can view the content and make changes.  We'll have plenty of training sessions for students and families on how to use this system.

Email is a great tool for communicating questions and ideas.  While my responses during the school day will obviously be delayed due to my teaching responsibilities, I welcome your questions and comments any time of the day.  I also utilize a smartphone. If you have questions after school hours about items such as homework, please feel free to e-mail me and I will do my best to respond as promptly as possible.
    Assignment Book
Derry Township Schools graciously provides a great assignment book for students.  This is a tool for students AND parents.  Please encourage your student to share their assignment book so you can view their current projects and lessons.  Students, on a case by case basis, may be asked to have their assignment books signed each night to encourage homework completion.
