    Originally built in 1966 as a high school, the building was renovated into the middle school in 1998. Today the 157,000-square foot facility houses nearly 900 students in grades 6-8. The building boasts a full size gym, a 1,000+ seat auditorium, a card access system, and internet/television/ phone access in all classrooms.

    Our middle level instructional program is delivered through an interdisciplinary team format which stresses subject matter as well as pupil development. This configuration helps students by providing consistency while encouraging them to perceive the wholeness that exists in learning.  In addition, our middle school facilitates student transition from a self-contained elementary school setting to a departmentalized high school setting. The interdisciplinary team organization assists the students in successfully traversing the period of time between the elementary and high school years.

    Derry Township School District is administering the PA Department of Education, Office of Safe Schools “School Climate Survey” and is seeking constituent input.   • How to get Info on Weather-Related Schedule Changes

    The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. When conditions dictate unscheduled closings, delays, or early dismissals are in the best interest of student safety, the district will announce information via an automated phone messaging system, on its website and social media feeds. These district-operated notification tools are the primary mechanisms by which schedule change information will be communicated.

  • HHS Theatre Presents: "Our Town"

    HHS Theatre Presents: Our Town. This Pulitzer Prize–winning drama of life in the small village of Grover’s Corners has become an American classic and is Thornton Wilder’s most renowned and most frequently performed play. Dates for the play are: November 16 and 17 at 7 p.m. in the HHS Auditorium. General Admission Tickets will be sold at the door: $10 for adults and $5 for students.

  • Ratings Web Site Lauds DTSD as Among Best in the Country

    Derry Township School District has been awarded an overall “A+” by Niche, a web site that publishes research on U.S. colleges, schools, neighborhoods and companies. In the recently-released 2019 rankings, DTSD earned high marks locally, statewide and nationally in categories ranging from school safety, best places to teach and best teachers. The site ranked the district as overall “Best” in Dauphin County, #19 (of 498) in Pennsylvania and #163 among the 10,758 public school districts rated across the nation.
