Greetings Parents and Guardians,
As the 2018-19 school years commences, I am excited to work with you and your child. The sixth grade experience is very rewarding and Hershey Middle School is a terrific place to learn.
I am originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and I am a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. After college, I relocated to Colonial Beach, Virginia where I taught sixth and seventh grade students for four years. In August of 2000, I was on my way back to Pennsylvania, and I have been teaching sixth grade here in Hershey ever since, instructing both Language Arts and Social Studies. I am looking forward to my twenty-third year teaching middle school students. Due to my desire to earn a Master of Education Degree, I chose Temple University and a program that fit me perfectly. In the spring of 2005, I graduated with a Master of Education in Educational Psychology. This was a challenging and exciting experience, and I continue to enrich my education with professional development opportunities. Along with psychology, I enjoy reading about medical topics and entertainment news.
I enjoy spending time with loved ones, and I have 10 nieces and nephews and a few great-nieces too! I got married in December of 2017, so it was a special year! Brian and I enjoyed our honeymoon in Las Vegas in January; we had a blast! I have a step-daughter and have automatically become a grandmother to four great kids under the age of thirteen! Don't worry, since I am too "young" to be a grandma...they call me Kiki! Gotta love it!Shopping, yoga, reading and organizing are some of my hobbies. I encourage my students to explore their interests because you never know how much you’ll enjoy something until you try it! I have some great pictures to share with your children, as I teach about some of the places I have visited. I stay involved with school activities; I score for the HMS Girls Basketball team, and I lead the 6th grade orientation team. One of my favorite activities is coordinating the Secret Buddy program for the Middle School teachers. Lastly, I volunteer on the MS SAP team, COCOA committee and I will continue to help out with HEA Membership and various community service activities. My love for traveling shines through while teaching because I have the opportunity to teach the geography, culture and history of the Western Hemisphere. I encourage my students to make real world connections. The students in my class will participate in activities where they have the chance to work both independently and with others. Creativity, exploration and skill building are all a part of my classes. Organization and cooperation are very important to me, and I am looking forward to making this a comfortable and memorable year for you and your child. Please feel free to contact me at 531-2222 ext. 4061 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions. Let’s get started...
