Based on a growing body of research on adolescent sleep patterns and the impacts to student achievement, Derry Township School District intends to revamp its school day starting with the 2021-2022 school year. While the district will be using the next two school years to fully develop the specifics, the intent is to push back the daily start time for secondary students and move it up for those in elementary school. Click the graphic for more details.
The Derry Township School District Board of School Directors is seeking interested citizen advisors to its standing committees. Citizen advisors are assigned to a specific standing committee and asked to attend its meetings. In their advisory capacity, citizen representatives may be called upon to react to new directions and proposals, provide information and support for budget initiatives, study and analyze issues, review proposals and materials, and provide input into policies at all operational levels of the school system.
The Derry Township School District (DTSD) is now offering its “2019-2020 All-Sports Pass” to DTSD students and district residents. The pass allows the bearer to attend all home regular season sporting events during the 2019-2020 school year. All-sports passes can be purchased in the Athletic Office located in Hershey High School, 550 Homestead Road, at a cost of $20 for students and $40 for adults.
Hershey High School is once again pleased to offer an SAT Prep Workshop this fall to help prepare students for upcoming SAT exams. Classes begin the second week of school, and we are still accepting registrations. Click the graphic for more information or email Mrs. Ogle at LOgle@hershey.k12.pa.us.
All schools in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including DTSD, have adopted use of the “Safe2Say Something” anonymous tip line as a means of improving campus safety and improving school climate. The tip line is operated and monitored 24/7 by the Office of the Attorney General where tips are reviewed, classified, and forwarded to the appropriate school district. Tips that are found to contain information that may indicate a "life safety" issue are immediately forwarded to the appropriate county emergency dispatch center. Click the graphic for additional information.
Online registration for student parking passes at Hershey High School is now open. Juniors and seniors wishing to park on campus must carefully review the “Student Driver Rules and Regulations Agreement” document that is linked on the parking registration site for complete parking information. Eligible and registered juniors and seniors will be assigned a numbered tag (for the lower lots or Pebble Beach), but not a numbered spot.
NOTE: You will be required to sign in to Google using your Derry Township student credentials in order to register.
If you have any problems or questions please contact Mr. Beard.
