    A Successful Learning Environment

I am very excited to be part of your child’s education.  I would like to share our school’s COCOA principals that we will teach, encourage, model, and celebrate each day!

    Foster a sense of COMMUNITY.

     Take advantage of OPPORTUNITY.

     Demonstrate CITIZENSHIP.

    Assume OWNERSHIP.

Do what it takes to be successful in ACADEMICS.

Following these core values along with the golden rule, “Treat others the way that you would like for them to treat you”, we can create a classroom environment that is fun, safe, and conducive for learning!

In order to encourage the students to follow these values, positive reinforcement will be used for good behavior.  This includes personal positive comments, class recognition, and the use of a clip chart.  Students will have the opportunity to clip up for great behavior and hard work OR clip down as a way of shaping their behavior into what is more desirable in the classroom.  It is important to remember that they are five and six-year-old children who NEED to make mistakes in order to grow. MISTAKES ARE HOW WE ALL LEARN!!!  Our clip chart is centered around a rocket ship and will be worded as follows:

     PINK- Out of this world

    PURPLE- Blasting Off

GREEN- Ready for take off (this is where every child will begin every day)

    YELLOW- Check your engines

RED- Houston, we have a problem

Students will have the opportunity to move up and down within a day’s time so one mistake can easily be turned around! Before you know it, we will ALL be OUT OF THIS WORLD!!
