    The Primary Elementary School serves children in second and third grades.  The school building was originally constructed in 1954 and renovated in 1991. Today the facility offers more than 154,000 square feet dedicated to meeting the needs of young learners. 
     
    Young children learn by doing. Learning is sequential and children must demonstrate readiness for new understandings based on their maturation and past experiences. Children acquire information and knowledge through interaction with people and objects. They are motivated to learn through their own need to make sense of the world around them.  
    The building has a card access system and offers telephone, television and intranet access in each classroom.  Other amenities include a multi-purpose room, two cafeterias/multi-purpose room, and a gymnasium with auxiliary gym space.

  • DTSD Looking for Junior Achiement Volunteers

    Derry Township School District is excited to be able to partner with Junior Achievement this year to bring real-world education, including business ownership, finances, and personal spending into our elementary school. The program is age-appropriate, engaging, and FUN! We are seeking volunteers to visit 2nd and 3rd Grade classrooms and support this Junior Achievement experience.   • HHS Theatre Musical Tickets on Sale Now!

  • Kindergarten Pre-Registration is NOW OPEN

    Pre-registration for Derry Township children who will be 5 years of age before September 1, 2019 and plan to attend kindergarten this coming fall is NOW OPEN. Click the graphic for additional information and to begin the online pre-registration process. Remember: The online pre-registration does not complete the enrollment process; parents and guardians should also plan to complete registration during sessions held at the Early Childhood Center.

  • Safe2Say Something Reporting System Now Available

    All schools in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including DTSD, have adopted use of the “Safe2Say Something” anonymous tip line as a means of improving campus safety and improving school climate. The tip line is operated and monitored 24/7 by the Office of the Attorney General where tips are reviewed, classified, and forwarded to the appropriate school district. Tips that are found to contain information that may indicate a "life safety" issue are immediately forwarded to the appropriate county emergency dispatch center.   • PA Department of Education Launches “Future Ready PA Index”

    The PA Department of Education has launched its new “Future Ready PA Index” with a dashboard that allows for a look at how Pennsylvania schools – including those here in DTSD - are educating students. In addition to proficiency, the dashboard illustrates growth, achievement, and other data by student group - such as economically disadvantaged students, English Learners, students receiving special education services, and racial and ethnic groups.
