• Meet the Principals
    Email Jacquelyn Castleman began her duties as the Elementary Principal for Grades K-5 with the 2014-2015 school year. Prior to that, she had served DTSD as the principal of the Hershey Early Childhood Center since 2006.


    She holds a bachelor’s degree in speech and language from East Stroudsburg University and a master’s degree in special education from Millersville University.
    Castleman has previously served as an elementary literacy coach for the Derry Township School District. In this position, she worked collaboratively with the elementary principals and the director of curriculum and instruction to ensure a match between curriculum, instruction, and assessment. She also supported the analysis of data and student learning outcomes, modeled lessons that focused on specific skills identified through the analysis, and provided training and consultation for teachers.


    Castleman’s teaching career began in Lancaster as a learning support teacher for the School District of Lancaster. Before joining Derry Township schools, she also worked as a staff development and training specialist and as an education consultant for Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit.

    Email Lindsey Schmidt joined the Derry Township School District as the K-1 Assistant Principal in August of 2016. 

    Schmidt obtained her bachelors’ degrees in Special Education and Psychology from Millersville University.  She spent her teaching career in the School District of Lancaster teaching in a variety of grades and special education settings.  She spent time working closely with regular education and special education teachers on differentiated instruction and appropriate accommodations within the classroom.

    While earning her Masters’ Degree in education with a concentration in 21st Century Technology integration from Wilkes University Schmidt began working as a special education consultant within the School District of Lancaster.  Schmidt obtained her Kindergarten through 12th grade Principal Certification from Wilkes University and then moved into administration at Wheatland Middle School in the School District of Lancaster.  Schmidt is excited to join the administrative team at Derry Township.
