The Intermediate Elementary School serves children in fourth and fifth grades.  The school building was originally constructed in 1954 and renovated in 1991. Today the facility offers more than 154,000 square feet dedicated to meeting the needs of young learners. 
Young children learn by doing. Learning is sequential and children must demonstrate readiness for new understandings based on their maturation and past experiences. Children acquire information and knowledge through interaction with people and objects. They are motivated to learn through their own need to make sense of the world around them.
The building has a card access system and offers telephone, television and intranet access in each classroom.  Other amenities include a multi-purpose room, two cafeterias/multi-purpose room, and a gymnasium with auxiliary gym space. 


  • Trojan Trading Post

    Fall spirit wear orders from the Trojan Trading Post, Hershey High School’s student-run store, are due by Oct. 31. Want to show your Trojan Pride but aren’t a student or staff member? Order without fear; we’ll deliver your gear! Free local delivery is now available for community members. Best of all: 100% of the profits go toward the Trojan Trading Post Scholarship Fund, providing college aid to business students. To date, nearly $5,000 in Trojan Trading Post scholarships have been awarded to HHS grads.

  • Drugs 101: What Parents and Kids Need to Know

    Derry Township School District, in conjunction with Penn State Children’s Hospital and the Susan P. Byrnes Health Education Center, will offer “Drugs 101: What Parents and Kids Need to Know” at Hershey High School on Wednesday November 9. There are two related sessions, one intended for parents/guardians and another providing information to teens. Doors will open at 5 p.m. for exhibits; the main programs will run 6-8 p.m. Pre-registration is required

  • DCTS Offers Career & Technical Education Xpo

    Dauphin County Technical School will be hosting its first 1st Career and Technical Education (CTE) Xpo for Middle School students. The event will be held November 9 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the school located at 6001 Locust Lane in Harrisburg. Dauphin County Technical School offers programs in Visual Arts & Marketing, Transportation, the Service Industry, Information Technology, Health Sciences, Construction and Advanced Manufacturing.

  •  Fingerprint Center

    On-Campus Fingerprinting Center for DTSD Volunteers Now Open

    In response to changes in the Child Protective Services Law (Act 114), which requires school employees and volunteers to renew their certifications every five years, Derry Township School District (DTSD) is opening an official 3M Cogent fingerprinting site specifically for district volunteers and employees. Fingerprinting services will be available for employees and volunteers at the DTSD District Office at 30 E. Granada Avenue, Hershey starting September 12. Hours of operation will be 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. weekdays by appointment only

  • All Sports Passes Offered For Sale

    The Derry Township School District (DTSD) is now offering its “2016-17 All-Sports Pass” to DTSD students and district residents. The pass allows the bearer to attend all home regular season sporting events during the 2016-17 school year. All-sports passes can be purchased in the Athletic Office located in Hershey High School, 550 Homestead Road, at a cost of $20 for students and $40 for adults.
