    STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES
    Camp College
    Camp College is an intensive three day/two night workshop for 60 current high school sophomores and juniors. Paired with mentors, participants will learn about all aspects of the college search and application process, experience life in residence halls, learn about financial aid, standardized test exams and have a lot of fun. At the end of camp, attendees will be equipped with tools to navigate the college application process. The camp will be held at Cabrini University, outside Philadelphia from Tuesday, 7/24 through Thursday, 7/26. Click here for more details, including how to apply. The deadline to apply is April 15th but students are encouraged to apply early.
     
    U.S. Service Academy Information Day
    Any student interested in attending one of the U.S. Service Academies should attend the U.S. Service Academy Information Day to be held on Saturday March 24th at Hamburg Area High School. The program will begin promptly at 9am and end at 12pm. Students and their parents will be able to talk with staff from Senator Patrick Toomey’s office, Congressman Charles Dent and representatives of the Air Force, Naval, Merchant Marine and Coast Guard Academies, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the R.O.T.C to gain a better understanding of the nomination and admission process.

    Glass Slipper Event - "For the Perfect Prom"
    Sponsored by the Lebanon County Commission for Women
    Area students may purchase gently used prom dresses at the super low cost of $10 each. Students may purchase up to 2 dresses.The event is open to ANY area high school student with a current school ID. 
    When: Friday, February 23, 2018 - 7pm-9pm
               Saturday, February 24, 2018 - 10am-2pm
    Where: The Lebanon Valley Mall
    Discounted coupons will be available for flowers, nails, hair services, etc.
     
    If you have a gently used prom dress you would like to donate to the Glass Slipper Project, donations will be accepted at the Lebanon Valley Mall on Saturday, February 17, 2018, 10am-2pm. During the week of February 12-16 there will be a number of other drop off locations and drop off times. See the Donation flyer for more information.
     
     
    We the Students Essay Contest
    Each year the “We The Students Essay Contest”, sponsored by the Bill of Rights Institute, gives students the opportunity to win monetary prizes for sharing their perspective on a trending topic related to the Bill of Rights. This year’s essay prompt is To what extent in the U.S. does the government–federal, state, and local–have the duty to monitor internet content? The winner of the competition will receive $5,000 and a scholarship to the 2018 Constitutional Academy in Washington, D.C. Six Runner Ups will receive $1,250 each. Eight honorable mentions will receive prizes of $500 each. The deadline to enter is February 5, 2018.     2018 STEM Summer Enrichment Program (STEM-SEP)
    Sponsored by Penn State Harrisburg School of Science, Engineering and Technology
    STEM-SEP is a free two week program for high school students designed to improve their knowledge through hands on activities in a variety of STEM areas. The program will include field trips, demonstrations, experiments, projects and assistance in learning how to conduct scientific presentations. Students will receive a calculator and other training materials. The rogram will run from 6/11/18-6/22/18, Monday Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm.  The deadline to apply is February 18, 2018 by 5:00pm.

    Opportunity for the Class of 2019: The Marines Semper Fidelis All-American Program
    The Marines Semper Fidelis All-American Program is now accepting applications. The program recognizes juniors from across the country who excel academically, athletically and within their communities. Students selected receive an all-expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. in July 2018 to attend the Battles Won Academy with a mentor of their choosing.     Scholarship Opportunity for the Class of 2019: The Coolidge Scholarship
    Administered by the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation.
    The Coolidge Scholarship is a full ride merit scholarship which covers tuition, room, board and expenses for four years of undergraduate study.
    Applications must be received by 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time, January 24, 2018.

    Engineering Career Day
    Learn from industry leaders and explore career opportunities in the following engineering disciplines: Architectural, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Nanofabrication and Building Construction Technology.
    Each student will attend an Engineering Overview Presentation and two sessions of their choosing - must pre-register to attend.

    Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week (PFEW)
    PFEW is a one of a kind summer program that offers rising high school juniors and seniors a unique and challenging opportunity to see what it is like to run their own business.
    Cost to the student - $285.00 and travel expenses. (Financial aid and/or payment plans are available)
    The Early Bird Deadline is March 2, 2018; the Final Deadline is April 6, 2018.
    There are two different locations (Lycoming College and PA College of Technology) offering four week long sessions during the summer.
