    STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES
    2018 STEM Summer Enrichment Program (SEP)
    Sponsored by Penn State Harrisburg School of Science, Engineering and Technology
    STEM SEP is a free two week program for high school students designed to improve their knowledge through hands on activities in a variety of STEM areas. The program will include field trips, demonstrations, experiments, projects and assistance in learning how to conduct scientific presentations. Students will receive a calculator and other training materials. The rogram will run from 6/11/18-6/22/18, Monday Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm.  The deadline to apply is February 18, 2018 by 5:00pm.

    Hershey Theatre Student Rush Tickets for Kinky Boots
     Kinky Boots will offer Student Rush Tickets 2 hours prior to each performance at the Hershey Theatre. ickets must be purchased at the Hershey Theatre Box Office, and a current/valid student ID must be shown at time of purchase. Valid for Balcony and Cloud Club seats only- while supplies last.
    Tickets are $25- CASH ONLY
    This discount also extends to chaperones for students under 25-a chaperone being defined as one adult with a minimum of 10 students.
    Kinky Boots will be playing from November 28  - December 3, 2017.
     
    Opportunity for the Class of 2019: The Marines Semper Fidelis All-American Program
    The Marines Semper Fidelis All-American Program is now accepting applications. The program recognizes juniors from across the country who excel academically, athletically and within their communities. Students selected receive an all-expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. in July 2018 to attend the Battles Won Academy with a mentor of their choosing.     Scholarship Opportunity for the Class of 2019: The Coolidge Scholarship
    Administered by the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation.
    The Coolidge Scholarship is a full ride merit scholarship which covers tuition, room, board and expenses for four years of undergraduate study.
    Applications must be received by 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time, January 24, 2018.

    Engineering Career Day
    Learn from industry leaders and explore career opportunities in the following engineering disciplines: Architectural, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Nanofabrication and Building Construction Technology.
    Each student will attend an Engineering Overview Presentation and two sessions of their choosing - must pre-register to attend.

    Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week (PFEW)
    PFEW is a one of a kind summer program that offers rising high school juniors and seniors a unique and challenging opportunity to see what it is like to run their own business.
    Cost to the student - $285.00 and travel expenses. (Financial aid and/or payment plans are available)
    The Early Bird Deadline is March 2, 2018; the Final Deadline is April 6, 2018.
    There are two different locations (Lycoming College and PA College of Technology) offering four week long sessions during the summer.

    The National Sojourners Patriotic Essay Contest

    The National Sojourners essay contest, sponsored by Harrisburg Chapter #76, is now open for students in grades 9-12. All essays submitted will be judged first on a local level and then at the national level.
    The national awards are:
    1st place: $2,000 
    2nd place: $1,000
    3rd place   $   500 
    The chapter awards are:
    1st place: $100
    2nd place: $ 50
