Use of School Facilities The Derry Township School District may permit community organizations to use district buildings or grounds for approved special events. Inquiries or requests to use district facilities must be made through the athletic office. To inquire about the availability of the facility, payment of rental fees, and the necessary insurance certificate of liability, please call 531-2244. The district will process requests on a first-come, first-served basis, except that school groups will be given priority over external groups.
The necessary forms are available below or through the district office.
Use of DTSD Tracks
Community members wishing to exercise on Derry Township School District-owned running tracks may do so between dawn and dusk when the facilities are not being utilized for school-related activities. The cinder track adjacent to Hershey Elementary School is unfenced and may be used free of charge. District residents who wish to utilize the gated all-weather track at Hershey High School should schedule an appointment with the district’s Buildings and Grounds Office (508-9616) to make arrangements to obtain an access card. A one-time, fully refundable $20 deposit is required at the time an access card is issued. Card holders will also be asked to sign an agreement outlining track use rules. Runners at either track should follow school district property regulations and township ordinances at all times. In order to preserve instructional time and reduce paper consumption, the district discourages sending external event/activity fliers home with students. The district, will review such requests and potentially allow material to be posted online or - in rare instances - to be sent home with students. Requests to distribute information on community events (either online or in printed form) must be directed to the office of the Superintendent of Schools. Requests should be submitted no later than 2 weeks prior to the event. Requests should be limited to events with a clear educational benefit for district students. The district reserves all rights to determine the suitability of events for publication. Advertisement of for-profit business, programs or events will not be approved. In those instances where the district grants permission for the distribution of printed materials, the sponsoring organization is then responsible for the printing of materials, collating the proper number of bundled packaged for each homeroom and delivering them to the respective school offices.
Neither the inclusion of an event listing on the district site or the granting of permission to distribute printed materials on school grounds constitutes an endorsement by the district. All inquiries related to individual events offered by community groups should be directed to the sponsoring organization.
