District Report Card
The federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) required Pennsylvania to develop standards for what a child should know and learn at all grade levels. The act also required states to develop a reporting system that measured the progress of local school districts toward meeting state-established benchmarks - Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) - linked to the standards. To meet the NCLB mandates, the Commonwealth's Department of Education annually produces an Academic Achievement Report.
