Greetings Parents and Guardians,
As the 2019-20 school years commences, I am excited to work with you and your child. The sixth grade experience is very rewarding and Hershey Middle School is a terrific place to learn.
I am originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and I am a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. After college, I relocated to Colonial Beach, Virginia where I taught sixth and seventh grade reading and spelling for four years. In August of 2000, I was on my way back to Pennsylvania, and I have been teaching sixth grade here in Hershey ever since, instructing both Language Arts and Social Studies. I am looking forward to my 23rd teaching middle school students. Due to my desire to earn a Master of Education Degree, I chose Temple University and a program that fit me perfectly. In the spring of 2005, I graduated with a Master of Education in Educational Psychology. This was a challenging and exciting experience, and I continue to enrich my education and career with professional development opportunities.
I enjoy spending time with loved ones, and I have 10 nieces and nephews and two great-nieces and one great-nephew too! I got married in December of 2017, so that was a special year! Brian and I enjoy traveling, cooking and watching Dateline NBC. We reside about 20 minutes north of Hershey in West Hanover Township, PA. I have a 31-year-old step-daughter and grandmother to four great kids under the age of fourteen. Don't worry, since I am too "young" to be a grandma...they call me Kiki! We unfortunately lost our cat buddy, Halle, in May…but, at some point we will go down that road of furry friends again.
Shopping, yoga, reading and organizing are some of my hobbies. I encourage my students to explore their interests because you never know how much you’ll enjoy something until you try it! I enjoy learning about psychology, I enjoy reading about medical topics and entertainment news. I stay involved with school activities as I score for the HMS Girls Basketball team, and I lead the 6th grade orientation team. I volunteer on the MS SAP team, COCOA committee and I am the HEA Membership Chair along with helping out with the Turkey Trot, HMS mini-THON and I’m the raffle director for the Race4Linda 5K.
My love for traveling shines through while teaching because I had the opportunity to teach the geography for many years! This year, I am back to teaching ELA, which I have taught for a length of time as well, in the first 12 years of my career. We will be phenomenal readers and writers this year while making real-life connections along the way! Please feel free to contact me at 531-2222 ext. 4013 or email me at email@example.com if you have any questions. Let’s get started...
