As the 2020-21 school year commences, I am excited to work with you and your child. The sixth grade experience is very rewarding and Hershey Middle School is a terrific place to learn.
I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA and I am a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. After college, I relocated to Colonial Beach, Virginia where I taught 6th and 7th grade reading and spelling for four years. In August of 2000, I relocated back to Pennsylvania, and I have been teaching sixth grade in Hershey ever since, instructing both Language Arts and Social Studies. Due to my desire to earn a Master of Education Degree, I chose Temple University and a program that fit me perfectly. In the spring of 2005, I graduated with a Master of Education in Educational Psychology. This was a challenging and exciting experience, and I continue to enrich my education and career with professional development opportunities. Now, I am looking forward to my 25th year teaching middle school students.
I enjoy spending time with loved ones, and I have 10 nieces and nephews and two great-nieces and one great-nephew too! I got married in December of 2017, so that was a special year. Brian and I enjoy traveling, cooking and watching Dateline NBC. I am the raffle director for the Race4Linda 5K held every April on the Milton Hershey campus, and Brian is on my raffle team. We reside about 20 minutes north of Hershey in West Hanover Township, PA. I have a 32-year-old step-daughter and I am a grandma to four great kids under the age of fourteen. Don't worry, since I am too "young" to be a grandma...they call me Kiki! We adopted a cat in December of 2019, and her name is QUESO! She is spicy and sweet!
Shopping, yoga, reading and organizing are some of my hobbies. I encourage my students to explore their interests because you never know how much you’ll enjoy something until you try it! I love learning about psychology and I enjoy reading about medical topics! I stay involved with school activities as I score for the HMS Girls Basketball team and I lead the 6th grade orientation group. I work with the HIP, DEER Instructional leaders, mini-THON, and HEA teams.
My love for traveling shines through while teaching because I taught geography for many years. Also, teaching ELA has made me realize that sometimes it is OK to gravitate towards a certain genre! You will find me reading about a famous person and their life experiences...love that!
We will be phenomenal readers and writers while making real-life connections along the way! Please feel free to contact me at 531-2222 ext. 4013 or email me at email@example.com if you have any questions. Let’s get started...
