Technology – 1. Human innovation in action that involves the generation of knowledge and processes to develop systems that solve problems and extend human capabilities. 2. The innovation, change or modification of the natural environment to satisfy perceived human needs and wants.
Technology Education – A study of technology, which provides an opportunity for students to learn about processes and knowledge related to technology that are needed to solve problems and extend human capabilities.
Course Overview
The activities within Engineering and Construction Principles are hands-on in nature. Students learn how design can affect the performance of various structures such as bridges, airplanes and automobiles. Furthermore, much emphasis is placed on research and development in order to determine the best solution based on given criteria. In essence, this class models the exact methodology industry uses when solving a problem. The core subjects that are applied in this course include STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math)
