    The program of studies of the Hershey High School
    is planned to meet the needs of the youth of the Derry Township School District. A major task of the school is to accommodate learners with divergent needs, goals, capabilities and interests. To this end, an effort is made to nurture individual skills and to satisfy individual needs.
    It is also the responsibility of the school to furnish opportunities for students to participate in cultural activities that may otherwise not be available to them. Extracurricular and enrichment programs are offered to satisfy this aspect.

    Hershey High School was built in 1996 and expanded in 2007. The facility is 231,000 square feet, has a card access system; phone/television/internet access in all classrooms; auditorium seating for 1,300; two CAD labs; classrooms for family and consumer sciences; full gym, weight and cardio exercise rooms;
    full band and orchestra/chorus rooms; three art rooms; closed circuit television capacity; a production office and library/media center.

  • District To Revamp School Start Times in 2021-2022

    Based on a growing body of research on adolescent sleep patterns and the impacts to student achievement, Derry Township School District intends to revamp its school day starting with the 2021-2022 school year. While the district will be using the next two school years to fully develop the specifics, the intent is to analyze the research to better match the sleep patterns of our students. • Safe2Say Something Reporting System Now Available

    All schools in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including DTSD, have adopted use of the “Safe2Say Something” anonymous tip line as a means of improving campus safety and improving school climate. The tip line is operated and monitored 24/7 by the Office of the Attorney General where tips are reviewed, classified, and forwarded to the appropriate school district. Tips that are found to contain information that may indicate a "life safety" issue are immediately forwarded to the appropriate county emergency dispatch center. • How to get Info on Weather-Related Schedule Changes

    The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. When conditions dictate unscheduled closings, delays, or early dismissals are in the best interest of student safety, the district will announce information via an automated phone messaging system, on its website and social media feeds. These district-operated notification tools are the primary mechanisms by which schedule change information will be communicated.
