The objectives of the German Two class are the further the student's knowledge of German vocabulary and basic grammatical concepts found in the textbook, and to practice speaking and writing using the German language in everyday situations. An emphasis will be placed on speaking the target language in the classroom. Cultural aspects covered this year will include films and information about the German-speaking countries and their inhabitants, selected German cities and states in the form of geographical capsules, famous Germans, and German holidays and observances.
The students will be using the Komm Mit II textbook and may use the workbook for extra help with German grammatical concepts. Students will also be expected to maintain an organized notebook (a three-ring binder) and to have a German/English dictionary.
Hershey High School rules and regulations (found in the agenda book) are to be followed in class along with the following rules expressly for German students:
a. All homework is to be completed by the student on his/her own. This is a practice exercise designed to reinforce the day's lesson. All homework will be graded for COMPLETION.
b. Quizzes will be given periodically to assess the student's understanding of a particular concept. Quizzes may be announced or unannounced. Tests will be given at the end of each chapter or after each section. Tests will always be announced.
c. All work missed as a result of an absence must be made up by the student. The student has a week after the absence to complete the missed work. This does not include homework assignments which are due the day the student returns to school. Failure to complete the work will result in a zero percentage grade for those assignments or assessments
Viel Glueck dieses Jahr und mach Spass in der Deutschklasse!
