DEADLINE FOR HIGH SCHOOL PORTION (Regional Employability Certificate Application) February 26, 2021.
Application deadline is the end of February! You must have attended the Internship/HCEP/Work Experience Informational meeting and handed in your Regional Employability Certificate Application before the END of February for the next school year's programs. Listen to Morning Announcements for meeting dates/times.
DEADLINE TO COMPLETE HOSPITAL PORTION - Possibly around March 31st but check the website for details.
Students must also complete and obtain the Hershey High School Regional Emplyability Certificate application in order to be eligible for the HCEP program.
The Healthcare Career Exploration Program (HCEP) allows high school students the opportunity to interact with healthcare professionals in a real-work environment and to explore various healthcare professions.
This program will introduce selected senior students to a variety of areas at the Penn State Health Milton S Hershey Medical Center. The HCEP program allows high school seniors the opportunity to interact with healthcare professionals in a real-world environment and to explore various healthcare professions. Students who have demonstrated an interest in medical, science and related careers are targeted for this senior program.
Students must apply and be accepted into this program by the Penn State Health Milton S Hershey Medical Center. Students must also complete all Hershey High School internship application paperwork.
The program runs 8:30 AM to 10 AM Monday-Thursday. Seminars will be held on Fridays at the hospital during the same time frame.
The program will be one semester - Spring Semester.
During the 3rd marking period, in addition to the Penn State Health Milton S Hershey Medical Center clinical experiences, there will be seminars on various health care careers and related clinical topics by the Penn State Health Milton S Hershey Medical Center staff as well as an orientation to the Center.
During the 4th marking period, students will select a clinical area of interest where they will be supervised by a Penn State Health Milton S Hershey Medical Center preceptor. Students will obtain more in-depth knowledge in this area with the opportunities for healthcare exposure.
Near the end of the semester, students will present a senior project at the Penn State Health Milton S Hershey Medical Center.
