• Scholarship Opportunities

    Listed below are scholarship opportunities that are offered to Hershey High School seniors, as well as scholarships that are available to all students. 

    The Senior Scholarship Application will open on Tuesday November, 26th. This application form is used by our Senior Scholarship Committee to select the recipients of 12 different scholarships. The deadline will be Sunday, March 1, 2020 . 

     

     Scholarships for Seniors ONLY

     Marine Corps Career and Technical Education Scholarships

    • Deadline: Available all year
    • Eligibility: Seniors planning to attend a non-degree certificate program or vocational training that is 12 months or less at a community college or a private career school listed on College Navigator (more information in the link below).

    January Deadlines

    PACAC Scholarship: $1,000 - $1,500

    • Deadline: January 15, 2020
    • Eligibility: Academic performance, financial need, & commitment to cultural and intellectual diversity; Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

    Diversity Advancement Scholarship: up to $20,000

    • Deadline: January 17, 2020
    • Eligibility: "We’re looking for minority students whose imagination and design thinking will influence the future of the built environment and the architecture profession. Eligible students must be a US citizen, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be..." more information below.

    • Deadline: Must submit to counseling office no later than January 24, 2020 at 2:30 pm

    Merit Shop Training & Research Center Scholarships

    • Deadline: February 28, 2020
    • Eligibility: Students must plan to enroll in a trade school, college, or university program that is directly related to a construction career. This includes skilled trades, engineering, architecture, and construction management.

    Marine Corps Undergraduate and Associate Degree Scholarships

    • Deadline: March 3, 2020
    • Eligibility: If you are a senior who is pursuing an undergraduate non-degree certificate program that lasts longer than 12 months.

    Best and Brightest (PennLive)

    • Deadline: March 6, 2020
    • Eligibility: To be eligible, a senior must have at least a B or 3.0 grade point average although a grade point average below 3.0 because of extenuating circumstances does not preclude participation. Selection is based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and service to school, peers and community as well as an autobiographical essay and two letters of recommendation.

    Anna Woodside Scholarship: $1,000

    • Deadline: March 6, 2020
    • Eligibility: Seniors planning to enroll in a full-time college, university, or vocational-technical school in the United States for the fall of 2020. Transcript, community service list, SAT/ACT scores, and essay are required.

     William S. and Arthur R. Stambaugh Scholarship

    • Deadline: March 9, 2020
    • Eligibility: High school senior, demonstrate financial need, plan to attend a full-time two-year or four-year college or university located in the United States

    James L. Fillmore Scholarship: A full tuition scholarship for the University of Cincinnati

    • Deadline: March 9, 2020
    • Eligibility: A well-rounded senior who has been a student at Hershey High School for grades 9-12, and is planning to attend the University of Cincinnati. A student who consistently seeks participation across a variety of extracurricular offerings. Demonstrates a commitment to academics, and has an unweighted cumulative GPA of no less than 90% during the first semester of their senior year. More criteria available on application.

     United Steelworkers Hugh Carcella Scholarship Program: $1,000 per year for four years

    • Deadline: March 15, 2020
    • Eligibility: Must be a senior, and the son or daughter of a member of the United Steelworkers, District 10, in good standing; or the son or daughter or legal ward of a disabled or old age retiree or deceased member of an affiliated local union who was in good standing with the United Steelworkers at the time of their retirement or death.

    Ernest R. McDowell Health Career Scholarship: $500 - $1,500

    • Deadline: March 20, 2020
    • Eligibility: Any student who is pursuing a health career is invited to apply. 
    • In addition to the application form, an official high school transcript, one letter of recommendation from a teacher in whose class the student is currently enrolled, and a short essay are required. Please be certain that SAT/ACT scores and GPA are included in your application.

    Mattress Advisor's Sleep Science Scholarship: $1,000

    • Deadline: March 20, 2020
    • Eligibility: Senior planning to enroll in a US college or university; Applicants need to submit a written piece exploring their personal relationship with sleep health and the impact it’s had on their education in an 800-1000 word essay. It should quote research from recent studies in this field and explain what resources are available to help reduce poor sleep health.

    Susquehanna Section of American Institute of Chemical Engineers: $750

    • Deadline: March 27, 2020
    • Eligibility: Must be accepted into a four-year university in the fall of 2020 with a major in chemical engineering.

    Hershey Lions Club Scholarship: $1,000

    • Deadline: March 30, 2020
    • Eligibility: Senior planning to attend a two or four-year college or university, or a two-year technical school. Selection will be made based upon the applicant's community and volunteer service, academic achievement, and written recommendations. All applications are due to Ms. VanZant in the counseling office by March 30, 2020.

    April Deadlines

    Environmental Science Scholarship: $1,000

    • Deadline: April 1, 2020
    • Eligibility: A student planning to enroll in a 2 or 4 year college who is working towards a degree in environmental science.

    Epilepsy Association of Western and Central PA Scholarship: $1,000 - $1,500

    • Deadline: April 1, 2020
    • Eligibility: Must be a senior graduating in 2020, have a diagnosis of epilepsy/seizure disorder, provide proof of acceptance to a post-secondary academic or vocational program, etc.

    American Society of Highway Engineers Scholarships: A minimum of seven scholarships awarded at $2,000 each

    • Deadline: April 3, 2020
    • Eligibility: Senior planning to enroll in a four-year college program leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably civil engineering. Submitted copies of SAT/ACT scores and transcript are required, along with application.

    Graybar Constructive Trades Scholarship:

    • Deadline: April 15, 2020
    • Eligibility: A senior planning to attend post-secondary education, pursuing an associate's degree, pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship, or certificate program in the construction trades (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, pipefitting, welding). More criteria on website below:

    Irvin E. Herr Foundation: A one year scholarship, not exceeding $1,750 to be applied towards tuition costs

    • Deadline: April 30, 2020
    • Eligibility: Not an immediate family member of a Wilmington Trust Bank employee. Must be a senior graduating in 2020.

    The Sergeant Philip German Memorial Scholarship: $5,000


     Scholarships for All Students

    The scholarships below are available to all students, grades 9-12, unless otherwise specified in the descriptions.

     

    Coolidge Scholarship: Full-ride, four-year, merit scholarship that may be used by recipients for undergraduate study at any accredited college or universtiy in the United States.

    • Deadline: January 16, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.
    • Eligibility: Any high school junior who plans on enrolling in college in the fall of 2021 and is an American citizen or legal permanent resident
