Mission Statement

    The mission of the Hershey High School Band Program is to achieve and promote the highest standards of music education and music performance. We strive to facilitate the musical enrichment of the student membership by providing opportunities for significant musical experiences and personal growth. We promote the place and value of music in the Hershey community and the role music plays in the cultural, intellectual, and social lives of young adults. We equip students with potential to achieve greatness as they develop confidence, cooperation, responsibility, and high standards of excellence and character.


    Ensemble Offerings

    Symphonic Band

    The Hershey Symphonic Band is a non-auditioned ensemble that focuses on the development of fundamental skills necessary to perform on their instrument in a group and individually. Study of wind band music will be enriched with the study of music theory, history, and composition.

    Wind Symphony 

    Auditions for the Hershey Wind Symphony occur at the conclusion of the previous school year and is open to any student grades 9-12. The Wind Symphony performs traditional and contemporary repertoire of the highest caliber, ranging from the sixteenth century to present day. Study of wind band music will be enriched with the study of music theory, history, and composition.

    Marching Band 

    The Hershey Trojan Marching Band performs at various school and community events, as well as exhibition performances throughout the region. Students will be exposed to the Marching Band performance idiom at the highest level. Participation in the Marching Band requires attendance at scheduled rehearsals and performances, and involves time outside of the regular school day and year.

    Jazz Band 

    The Hershey Jazz Band is available to any student grades 9-12 wishing to increase their knowledge and abilities in music of jazz, rock, Latin, and other “popular” music styles. Membership is by audition, but all students are encouraged to audition. Rehearsals occur before school on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning in November.
