At Derry Township School District, we seek to maintain a safe environment for employees, students, families, and the community. To help realize this goal, the District has partnered with Concentric by Ginkgo to make an optional COVID-19 diagnostic testing program available to interested families at no cost. 

This optional and free program is designed to provide an extra layer of protection to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The program is designed to test students/staff who are experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19 at home or school. Each test involves a quick, non-invasive nasal swab that is collected under the supervision of a school nurse. Unlike COVID-19 tests you may be familiar with, these tests are not uncomfortable and are easy to administer.

If a student or staff member tests negative, they will be required to retest at least 2 days after the initial test to confirm the original result.

A parent/guardian must be present before a student who is in isolation can be tested for COVID-19.

Consents forms are only sent to the parents/guardians of students or staff members that are showing symptoms of COVID-19 at home or school.

Derry Township School District only accepts at-home/over-the-counter tests for positive COVID test results. Because of the variety of at-home/over-the-counter tests available to families, a copy of the test results (picture/screenshot) must be provided to the school nurse as well as the original packaging of the test(s). The picture/screenshot must include the name of the student and the date the test was administered. As a reminder, the district does not accept at-home/over-the-counter for negative COVID test results.
