School Medical Care

  • The school’s role in the medical care of your child is summarized below:

First aid is the only treatment administered to students. In the event of an emergency, 911 and the parents will be called.

A student who becomes ill or injured while at school will be seen by the school nurse.  The nurse will assess the severity of the illness/injury and the need to be sent home, to the hospital, or back to class. Parents will be contacted using telephone numbers provided to the district via Home Access Center (HAC). Students will be released only to individuals listed with the district. Parents should update HAC with all phone number and emergency contact information changes.

Students must visit the nurse to be sent home for illness or injury. Students who contact their parents directly for dismissal without seeing the nurse may not receive a medical dismissal.
