Jordan Bartal, MS, LAT, ATC - Athletic Trainer Hershey Middle School and High School
Jordan Bartal started at Hershey School District as an Athletic Trainer in the fall of 2017. She went to West Chester University earning her Bachelors of Science degree in Athletic Training. She continued her education at East Stroudsburg University earning a Masters of Science in Athletic Training. During this time Jordan was a Graduate Assistant at Wilson School District working with Wilson West Middle School and Wilson High School. Jordan currently resides in her hometown of Sinking Spring, PA. On her time off she enjoys hiking, going to the beach and spending time with friends and family. Jordan looks forward to continue to work with the athletes and staff at Hershey School District.
Olivia Dixon started at Hershey School District as an Athletic Trainer in the fall of 2023. She went to Lebanon Valley College for her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise science and her Master’s Degree in Athletic Training. After graduation, she moved to Baltimore County and worked with middle and high school athletics at Concordia Preparatory School in Towson, MD. She now resides in her hometown of Steelton, PA. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, spending time with family and friends, and reading. Olivia is excited to work with the Hershey Sports Medicine team and be part of the Hershey family.
Matthew Silvis, MD - Primary Care Sports Medicine Team Physician
Dr. Silvis has been a Sports Medicine Physician for DTSD since 2010. He is the Director of Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship, graduated from Pennsylvania State College of Medicine in 2002. He then completed a Family Medicine Residency at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. After residency, Dr. Silvis practiced wilderness medicine in rural Wyoming before returning to Wake Forest where he completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine. Dr. Silvis is currently an Associate Professor in the Departments of Family and Community Medicine and Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation and medical director of primary care sports medicine. He also serves as team physician for the Hershey Bears Hockey Club. He has special interests in the care of endurance athletes, exercise, and concussion. An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Silvis enjoys hiking, mountain biking, running, and photography. He lives in Hershey with his wife, Christine, and their two sons, Nicholas and Benjamin. Dr. Silvis clears all concussions sustained by any DTSD athlete and is available for sports injury consultations. The Athletic Trainers coordinate care and appointments with Dr. Silvis.
Scott Lynch, MD - Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Team Physician
Dr. Lynch has been involved with DTSD sports for over a decade. Dr. Lynch has been on faculty at Penn State Hershey Medical Center since June of 1998 as an Orthopedic Surgeon with subspecialization in Sports Medicine. Prior to coming to Hershey he did his Orthopaedic residency at the University of Vermont and then did two Sports Medicine Fellowships; one at the Cleveland Clinic and one overseas at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. He was promoted to Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery in 2004 and was named the Director of Sports Medicine at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. He has been the Practice Site Medical Director for the Adult Bone and Joint Clinic since its opening in 2008. He serves as the team physician for the Penn State University football team and as an assistant team physician for the Hershey Bears hockey team. Dr. Lynch helps as a volunteer wrestling coach for the high school, and enjoys biking and playing his guitar. He lives in Hershey with his wife, Debbie, and has two children currently attending college. The Athletic Trainers coordinate care and appointments with Dr. Lynch.
