Campus Access & Walking Route Changes Due to Stadium Construction

Campus Access & Walking Route Changes Due to Stadium Construction

Dear Families,

With construction on the Hershey High School stadium beginning this week, we want to share important information about changes to campus access that will impact walkers, students who use the Derry Township Community Center, and students who utilize the secondary bus corral. These adjustments are necessary to maintain safety for students, staff, and visitors while construction is underway.

What’s Changing
Beginning today, portions of the campus near the stadium will be closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic. As a result, some commonly used walking routes and access points will no longer be available. This will continue for the duration of the construction, expected to conclude in the summer of 2026.

Who Is Impacted

  • Students who walk to and from campus
  • Students accessing the Derry Township Recreation Center before or after school
  • Students who use the secondary bus corral
  • Community members who access or pass through campus as part of their walking routes

Updated Routes & Expectations

  • Walkers will be redirected to use the path in front of the Early Childhood Center (ECC) that connects to the Derry Township Community Center and Cocoa Ave. routes around the construction area. See attached map.
  • Access to the Community Center will require students to cross the bridge in front of the ECC or the pathway along the 322 field and western-most high school parking lots (Pebble Beach Parking Lot). See attached map.
  • Bus corral access will be adjusted to have a new temporary pathway to avoid construction zones, with the continuation of staff on site to assist students as needed.
  • For safety purposes, community members are encouraged to use alternate walking routes during construction.

Families are encouraged to review these changes with their students.

These changes are temporary and will remain in place for the duration of this phase of construction, expected to conclude in the summer of 2026. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve our facilities while keeping safety our top priority.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Stacy Winslow
