Health Services

  • Learning to be healthy is a person's most important lesson.

The Derry Township School Nurses believe that the health of a child has a direct effect on his/her ability to fully access his/her educational opportunities.

Parents have the primary responsibility for the health of their children including the establishment of good personal health habits. Parents should see that their children get sufficient rest, attend to personal cleanliness and eat wholesome food to ensure regular attendance at school. Inform your child's teacher and the school nurse of any health condition that might affect your child's schoolwork.

"You cannot educate an unhealthy child, and you cannot keep an uneducated child healthy." --Dr. Jocelyn Elder

Your school nurses are supported by the National Association of School Nurses and the Pennsylvania Association of School Nurses and Practitioners.
