Campus Updates

As we prepare to welcome students back to school on Monday, August 24, we want to make families aware of updated walking routes on campus related to the Elementary School construction project.

Our student walkers should plan to use the following preferred routes:

• Students entering from Cocoa Avenue (South Path): Rather than continuing along the typical route near the stadium concession stand, students should travel through the Derry Township Community Center parking lot, access the pathway between the baseball field and the rear of the football stadium, and continue along the south side of the stadium toward the Middle and High School campus.
  • Middle School students should enter through the south entrance used by bus riders.
  • High School students may enter the building through the weight room entrance facing the bus corral or other usual entrances.
• Students entering from the Areba Avenue side of campus (North Path): Students should cross near Memorial Field, continue along the Elementary School, and follow the pathway toward Homestead Road and the Middle/High School campus.
  • Middle School students should continue to use the south entrance near the bus corral.
  • High School students may use their usual available building entrance.

These routes will be in place beginning with the first day of school and will add time to a student's normal walking time. We encourage students to plan accordingly, particularly during the first several days of school.

As construction continues, we recognize there will be logistical changes and challenges around our campus. Student safety remains our priority, and we ask students to follow posted signage, staff direction, and designated walking routes and to avoid fenced-off construction areas.

Walking routes and other campus logistics may continue to evolve as the project progresses. We will communicate significant changes with families and provide updated information as needed.

Update (08/24/2026):

We have received some questions regarding the closure of the walking path that runs north of the stadium from the DT Community Center to the HHS stadium entrance. We understand that this route would be more convenient and wish it could remain available. However, significant construction is planned in and around the walking path, including changes to the elevation on the walking path, stormwater reconfiguring on the path, and the installation of a large underground stormwater basin extending from the area near the walking bridge to the Middle/High School bus parking lot. For safety, the path must remain closed while this work is completed.
