Elementary Parent Involvement

  •
Hershey Elementary School encourages parents to be active in their child's education by volunteering or participating in two parent organizations established at the school. Parents can join the school's Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and/or attend monthly Building Advisory Team (BAT) meetings.

Derry Township School District welcomes parent and guardian visits to our programs and classrooms (consistent with School Board Policy 907) The District expects mutual respect, civility, and orderly conduct from all visitors. To preserve the integrity of the learning environment, student and staff safety and protect students’ rights to confidentiality, the district has established Visitation Guidelines

The PTO works in cooperation with the Hershey Elementary School administration and faculty to enhance our learning community.

    Building Advisory Team
To keep the lines of communication open between the elementary school and the community, the school has formed a Building Advisory Team (BAT), which serves in an advisory capacity to the building administrator. BAT meetings are held monthly - usually on the second Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m. They are open to any interested parent.

The council is comprised of parents and educators working in partnership to promote equal opportunities for educational excellence and social, emotional and physical well-being for students with special needs.

Making the decision to volunteer your time and talents to the students of the Derry Township School District is a very honorable one and we are thankful to everyone who spends their timing volunteering with DTSD.
