Chris Grudi comes to us with a diverse background in law enforcement and safety and security experience. He started with DTSD three years ago as the Supervisor of Safe and Supportive Schools, working closely with the former Director of Safe and Supportive Schools. Chris is a Safe Crisis Management instructor and has recently assisted in developing staff training in de-escalation techniques. He transitioned into the Director of Safe and Secure Schools in July 2024.
Prior to that, he had spent 17 years with the Pennsylvania State Police. He served as a Trooper in Chester and Lancaster Counties. He was also assigned to the Bureau of Emergency and Special Operations Aviation Section as an airplane pilot. He served as the fixed-wing unit flight instructor and later the Supervisor of Safety and Training for the State Police Aviation Section. Before his time in the State Police, Chris worked as a Wildlife Conservation Officer for the Pennsylvania Game Commission in Bucks, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties. During his time, he enforced the Game and Wildlife Laws, worked with the communities and stakeholders on wildlife and conservation initiatives, and provided over 300 hours of education and informational programs each year. Chris also spent over 20 years in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard at the 193rd Special Operation Group in Middletown, PA. He spent 12 years in the Security Forces Squadron, and his remaining time was spent in the recruiting and retention and personnel units.
Chris's unwavering commitment to safety and security is evident throughout his career. He is dedicated to creating a safe and secure environment for students and staff, focusing on safe crisis management, fostering positive and healthy relationships with our school community, ensuring transparency with parents and the community, and exploring new safety initiatives.
