Kirsten Scheurich, Director of Special Education
Contact Kirsten Scheurich
Kirsten Scheurich has been the Director of Special Education since December 2013. Mrs. Scheurich earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Penn State University. Following graduation and 5 years in the child welfare field, Mrs. Scheurich attended Millersville University where she received her Special Education teaching certificate, Master’s degree in Special Education, Special Education Supervisory Certification and Principal Certification.
Mrs. Scheurich began her teaching career in the School District of Lancaster working in both middle and elementary schools as a teacher and a special education consultant. She was the Supervisor of Special Education and Coordinator of Alternative Education at Pequea Valley School District prior to working at Derry Township School District.
Angie Persing, Assistant Director of Special Education
Angie Persing has been the Assistant Director of Special Education since July 2020. Angie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Master’s Degree in Special Education from the University of Pittsburgh. In addition she has obtained her Special Education Supervisory Certification and Autism Certificate.
Prior to her administrative role, Angie served as a special education teacher for 3 years in Fairfax County Public Schools followed by 11 years in Derry Township. She then moved into a districtwide role as a special education consultant for 7 years. Angie has previously served on the Special Education Advisory Panel (SEAP) for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and completed the PaTTAN Pennsylvania Fellow Program for Special Education Leaders.
