DISTRICT TOTAL | 3 |
The District counts posted above are 14-day rolling totals. It is important to note that if a school building is closed for COVID-19 mitigation, the slate is “wiped clean” upon re-opening for state monitoring purposes. In other words, the rolling totals will still show the current positive cases and close contacts, but the cases that count towards a possible mandated school closure will be cleared and the count will restart upon return to school. This information is used by the district to ascertain if changes to educational modality is needed, based on guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Data in the table above is updated each school day prior to 4 p.m. (Data is not entered during weekends and holidays.)

Current Community Metrics
DTSD Community Data | Positivity Rate Last 7 Days | Incidence Rate Last 7 Days |
7.73¹ | 75.00/100K¹ |
The DTSD Community data above includes ZIP Codes 17033 and 17036. These figures reflect a 7-day rolling average. The district would consider temporarily suspending in-person instruction at the secondary level if there are sustained upticks in rates and/or the figures indicate rates consistently above the established thresholds (7-day positivity rate average exceeding 35.00% and the 7-day incidence rate greater than 500/100K).
Data in the table above is updated each school day prior to 4 p.m. (Data is not entered during weekends and holidays.)

♦ Most Recent Update for DTSD Families - March 1, 2021
Dear DTSD Families,
As of March 1, 2021, the Order of the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health relating to travel is no longer in effect. While the Department of Health continues to advise that travelers still practice appropriate public health measures to slow the spread of COVID-19, requirements for post-travel quarantine and/or COVID-19 testing no longer apply. You can read more on the Department of Health website.
During the time the previous travel order was in place, DTSD strongly discouraged out of state travel and was not approving educational trip requests made by families. With the easing of travel restrictions by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the district is returning to its previous practice of reviewing educational trip requests on a case-by-case basis. Requests for the approval of such trips must be made using the Student Application for Educational Tour or Trip Requested by Parents form.
Please remain vigilant with performing daily home health screenings prior to sending your student(s) to school – particularly if you have recently traveled outside of Pennsylvania. If they have a fever or are not feeling well, please do not send them to school. If the student’s illness is COVID-19 related, the student or a family member is awaiting a test result or has tested positive, and/or is a close contact, please contact the school nurse with this information.
Thank you,
Joe McFarland, Superintendent
